Traitorous Arizona Democrats betray Napolitano

Reposted on Arizona's PREMIRE political blog: Rum, Romanism & Rebellion
And i say that without being the author. Rum, Romanism and Rebellion is THE most watched political blog for local AZ politics.
Well, it seems to have happened. Today, Reps. Pete Rios and Linda Lopez voted with the Republicans in committee to move Weiers’s budget forward. Between the two of them, they added four ammendments to the budget. Oddly, those amendments had been written in cooperation with Republican staff, and they refused to show them to Democratic staff. Further, the two of them reportedly promised the votes of six Democratic House members for the budget in return for the support for the ammendments.

Breaking: Renzi Gone By Friday?
Rick RenziThe zeitgeist both in Phoenix and Washington is that Rick Renzi will be submitting his resignation from the House of Representatives by Friday.
Cool...I got that one out there before Josh Marshall.
A further bit of chisme has it that Ann Kirkpatrick will resign her seat in the legislature early next week and announce her campaign to replace Renzi.

Social Networking, myspace & Campaigns

The topic for today is myspace, social networking and politics.
I don't take credit for this. This page was the baby of Pederson interns Josh Bresiblatt, Alex Samuels Jamie Bellian. But when i started with Pederson, I knew that we had to be on there, we had to get there first and we had to justify the time expense. So i handed the project off to the trio who took it on as their own and made it into the awesome page that it is\was.
The point I will try to make here is that I and the Pederson campaign wanted to make youth outreach a priority and thats the difference between most political campaigns and what we did and what should be done in the future.
Recount in AZ-05
Thu Nov 09, 2006 at 11:17:43 AM PDT
It looks like there are 250k ballots out in Maricopa County and about 35k in AZ-05 Hayworth. Hayworth will need close to 69% of those ballots to go to him to overcome the defecit that he has to Harry Mitchell.
We are all holding our breathe. Please god please get Foghorn Leghorn out of office!

(AZ-SEN) Pederson(D) bashes Kyl (R)
Thu Sep 28, 2006 at 07:40:30 PM PDT
So, finally the gloves have come off and finally on the thing we have all wanted Jim Pederson to take the gloves OFF OF.
Check out his new ad:
http://www.youtube.com/...
From the Pederson Website:
Jim Pederson knows that our situation in Iraq is a mess. Night after night we turn on the television to see another young life lost -- another son or daughter; another father and mother who is not coming home. It is only natural that people are asking "Why?"
Iraq needs to be more than a political football. Jim wants to focus on what we can do now to help our troops finish the job -- and come home. There are more than 168,000 American soldiers -- and 3,300 Arizonans -- serving bravely in Iraq and Afghanistan, and they're not being given the support they need to get the job done.
AZ-05 Hayworth attack ad on Mitchell

So Hayworth is coming out of the box swinging on Illegal Immigration. He's been hoarding his money up until now, which is strange for him as he usually spends like a drunken sailor in most of his elections. Looks like foghorn leghorn is taking some tips from the chicken hawk and just talking tough.

Fighting back against Domestic Violence
Mon Aug 21, 2006 at 01:20:52 PM PDT
Continuing my coverage of some key Arizona races ... Terry Goddard, Arizona's Democrat Attorney General is touting his campaign against Domestic Violence by using hair salons and stylists as access points ...
Terry, if you don't know, was long-time Phoenix mayor when Democrats couldn't get elected to dog catcher. He is an unabashed, fighting Democrat who took down the famous "Phoenix 40" by bringing a district system to the Phoenix city council which elected 3 Latinos and 1 African-American that year.
He became Arizona's HUD Director in the Clinton years and then got elected to Attorney General in 2002. Rumors are that he will succeed Governor Janet Napolitano in 2010.

"The CUT IT OUT Program provides us with a critical link to domestic violence victims through salon professionals. One of our biggest challenges in combating domestic violence is connecting with victims. Partnering with the cosmetology community helps to bridge that gap, and allows law enforcement to get program information to victims who are often afraid to seek out help or do not know where to turn."
Meth in Arizona Part III: Protecting children

This is Part 3 in a 3 part series being blogged by Terry Goddard; Arizona's Attorney General.

Every child should be able to feel safe in his or her own home. However, for the children living in meth labs, their home lives often consist of abuse, neglect, and hazardous, unsanitary conditions. Their parents, who are supposed to be caring for them, are consumed by their methamphetamine addictions, and place their children at great risk on a daily basis. The Arizona Attorney General's DEC program has been prosecuting cases like these since 2000, dealing with a total of 285 drug endangered children.
